In this tutorial, I wanted to show you how I made a flower box-shadow frame using an old picture frame and magazine paper. Note that this tutorial requires a silhouette cameo machine.

If you want to make box shadow from scratch you can check this tutorial instead.

Materials you will need:

  • Cardstock paper at least 200gsm
  • Silhouette cameo cut file template
  • Old picture frame
  • Old magazine pictures for the flowers
  • Glue stick, double-sided tape, or glue
  • Optional: a thin wooden stick (alternative quilling tool)

The box size I used in this template is 5x7inches. You will need to adjust the sizing of the box shadow template depending on the size of your picture frame.

To attach the box to frame, I used B7000 multi purpose adhesive glue to permanently place the frame. This project doesn’t have any glass cover.

DIY Quilling tool

This is an optional tool you can use for rolling the paper flower easily. It is a thin wooded stick cut in half using a cutter. You can insert the paper in between the notch and roll the paper easily. Note that you can still roll the paper flower without using this tool.

Here’s the end result of the project using repurposed materials. The colors of the flowers will depend on the colors of the magazine paper you use, the ones I have on hand were more on the shades of fall colors.
