This is my first attempt to make a 3D paper cut lightbox frame. All are made of paper except for the border picture frame.
Materials you will need:
- LED lights battery operated
- A4 200gsm paper
- Old picture frame with glass cover
- Glue/Glue stick
- Silhouette cutting machine (optional)
If you want to use the exact design I provided a link below for the SVG files you can use for cutting machines.
Since I’m still new to making this, I repurposed an old picture frame as a border for the lightbox frame.
It has three layers of paper cut and the back is lined with 200gsm paper to cover the LED lights.
Fairly easy to make when you have a silhouette cameo to cut the intricate design and shadow box.
The landscape design is from freepik which has a lot of resources for free commercial use vector and photoshop designs.
Few things I would do differently the next time I make a 3D Paper Cut Lightbox, it wouldn’t hurt to watch a few tutorials beforehand to get good tips and tricks.
Also put in the LED lights last, you want to play around with the light on which part is best to highlight. In my case, I wanted the cat to be the focal point but too bad I can’t access the lights anymore.
It didn’t take a lot of time to assemble this. It took more of my time editing the design that I want since the forest landscape is pretty detailed I had to omit a lot of details in the process.
Please let us know if there is an SVG version of your Shadow Box Frame. Thank you.
